and I'm drowning in a crowd

gasping for some air

as when I was five and we were at the beach in one island in croatia

it was nice, white beach and we stayed there until dark

and then we went to the city

full of lights

and we ate ice cream and we got baloons and we went to lunapark

and I want to go somewhere where is carousel

and stay there for all night long

and I often ask myself why we don't have summer all the time

to eat cherries and strawberries and dance under the sun

and got that feeling of belonging somewhere

because I believe I belong to the summer and the sea

so I'm putting a flower in my hair and smile on my face

and I'll be high on those memories of that perfect summer

and will wait for another one to come

as now I am waiting for you

THE LAST PARTY IN MOMBELLO

I want to share with you my project for photography class:

the concept for the project is concerning abandoned places.

they always look so sad, lonely, wide. why not to make them lively once again?

old mental hospital in mombello was a place which desperately need some brightness inside it’s walls.

                    I made an installation with fifty red ballons in different rooms in the hospital and photographed it.
                    in the first pictures the instalation with baloons seems surreal, as it wouldn’t belong to the place,
                        as it would be an intruder.

                    but in the next ones we can see how the place is becoming more and more lively.

baloons know how to party, they occupied armoirs, beds and corridors, but all good parties always end in the toilet.

so did this time.

Yesterday my friends took some photos of me in my new blazer I made for the last exam. It was a crazy week, lots of sewing, but it passed and it passed well.

It's something I couldn't live without. It is everything to me. It means freedom. Freedom of body and freedom of mind. I don't know and other place where my head is so drama-less.

It inspires me with its infinite horizon. With its colors and sounds. With, the most important, its feeling.

FLOATING, FLOATING

It is perfect. Pure beauty. Pure perfection.

It is like a lover you are waiting for. So long, so long.

Every year, when the trees become green and when I put my winter coat back to the closet, yes, stay there forever, I put my heart shaped glasses on and the world seems better place. Yes, I'll be back to my love soon.

First swim after the whole year is always so beautiful that hurts. You get in slowly, drunk of all this beauty.

Then you swim. FLOATING.

I get this floating feeling when I'm in love. And If I don't have a real fatal love in my life, I have the sea. Me and the sea, we are one. Always were, always will.

I'm a sea child. I guess you figured it out already.

Long time no post. It's been a hard month, exams, you know.

So now it's time to relax. It was actually quite strange when everything was over. I was kind of confused, now what?

I went to the seaside, I've been waiting for so long to go swimming. I think my friends were a bit sick and tired of my countdowning (I started in October :D). But it was just a momental satisfaction. I needed something bigger. A great change.

I cannot be at the same place for too long. I need some fresh air, fresh faces. Sometimes Ljubljana feels like a cage. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, really beautiful. But it's too little to spread my wings wide. That's why I have my little escapes and someday I'll fly away.

Yesterday I recieved an e-mail where was written that I am accepted to Erasmus exchange in Milan. I couldn't be more happy! Everything went well, what well, brilliant! And I'm going to Greece on monday for two weeks and actually the whole thing didn't come to my head yet, it's too good to be true!

Now I am starting a whole new journey. I'm ready to discover new boundaries of my mind and work. I know there are dark thoughts in my head sometimes but the most important thing is to stay positive and keep mind occupied. To create. To live all days to the fullest.

This dress is my favourite at the moment. It's perfect for summer and for gypsy mood of freedom. Photos by Barbara.

Finally, my favourite time of the year is here: SUMMERTIME! I've been countdowning since October! :D
But this is the only free and relaxed part in my life now: I'm really busy with all the work for the university, with my Erasmus application, with play I direct for high school drama club... I really don't know where my head is right now. So please, can I borrow your jumpsuit, Superman?

my sketch from couple of months ago

These days I've been thinking a lot about certain posts of two of my favorite bloggers, Tavi and Eva, dedicated to fashion (business).

As a student of fashion design I have to say sometimes I get really sick and tired of what is going on at my university and generally in fashion scene of our country.

There are so many two-faced people, and mean people, like in every business I guess, who want to succeed and who would keep on trying to put you down.

I’ve never been so immune to everything than now. You get used to it.

I wasn’t so into my studies last year. I wasn’t sure if this is it. I still wanted to go study acting, but then I changed my mind. I decided to finish this and go with the flow.

I set acting free: if something is meant to you, there will be a chance in the right moment and place and you’ll know: “this is it”.

So now I work quite hard and I like it. Of course there are depressing days when I ask myself: Is it worth it?

Lack of social life, lack of time for things I like (reading, painting, acting), stress…

Well, there is something. A feeling, when you made something good you are proud of. Something that can make you and other feel happier and more beautiful. Something what a story could be about. That counts.

I don’t know if I’ll be in fashion business for my whole life. I’m not sure, there are also other things I want to experience. You never know what life brings to you. I even don’t know where I’ll be in five years. Maybe I’ll be doing an MA of whatever in Paris. Maybe I’ll work for a designer in Milan. Maybe I’ll be traveling around the world. Maybe I’ll be painting at one Greek island and running a small boutique of bikinis. Maybe I’ll be in New York, acting or directing. Who knows? But now ... I’m OK.

FUTURISTIC SPORT

Long time no blog. I've been busy living (have you seen The Shawshank redemption? if not, you have to, great movie!).
So, for my return in blogosphere I present you my latest project:

This is a piece from a sport collection I made. It was inspired by 60's futurism. I wanted to create a piece that could also be worn everyday, not just for sport, so I picked this shiny jersey and combined it with white. It's very comfortable because of the loose sleeves, but still feminine.

SEA CHILD

This is the result of today's photoshooting. I wear the poncho designed by me and made by my mother (thanks mum:)).
The inspiration for the poncho were the sea waves so I picked navy blue and white colours and the texture is really similar to the waves (it's knitted with really thick knitting needles).

I am always fascinated and inpired by the sea. I wish one day I would live somewhere by the sea. And I can't wait for summer, this winter is just passé.

I think often this time about my french summer of 2009. It was my best summer ever, full of freedom and full of life. I feel that summer of 2011 will be even better.

HOW DARK CAN YOU GO?

I'm not an all-in-black person but this time I wanted to try and wear everything black. It happened that I didn't feel good and I had to add at least one thing non-black and of course, a bright lipstick. I guess the dark side in me is not so dark as I tought. :)

I've been really busy with exams and this is the reason I haven't been posting often. The time is crazy right now and I don't know how to handle the whole situation (I'm not sure anyone does).
But this too shall pass.

MILITARY BALLERINA

This jacket is really old, I bought it in Vienna in 2005 or something. I haven't worn it for a very long time but yesterday I put it out of the wardrobe and try some outfits with it. I discovered it fits perfectly with a fluffy skirt (the other option was with lace skirt, also looked fine). I like the contrast of military and girly, and the thin belt makes the whole look more feminine. I love playing with contrasts, I guess this is the most risky but fun part of fashion.

And that is exactly how I have been feeling for some time.

Maybe the worst was during the holidays.

i did nothing during the holidays. NOTHING. ZERO. RIEN. i was too busy getting high on chocolate and playing some stupid facebook games. how pathetic.

but I couldn't do anything.

then she asked me: why are you always running away?

i'm running away to survive. to be alive. to be free. i've told you for a million times but you don't listen. you never did.

I'm picking destinations for 2011: Mexico, India, Thailand, Egypt, Yemen, Indonesia. I want to discover new boundaries in 2011, those of the mind and those of the world.

I saw recently Les amours imaginaires by Xavier Dolan. Besides directing, he also did the screenwriting and a leading role. Did I mention he's 21 (like me) and this was his second movie?

Then I decided: If he can do it, I can do it too.

Now with this decision in my head, I have no time for being insecure. My father always tell me: If you want to survive, just do something, if possible something you like and you are good at. And do your best at that. Sitting and complaining won't change anything. And plus, if you do something, you don't have time for bad thoughts. That's it.

So let's do our best in 2011!

This is what I've been working on last few weeks: we had to make a little black dress at design class. From yesterday you can check our work at vitrines of Maximarket in Ljubljana (until 10th January). The dress with the ruffles is my work. The photos of the dress will come as soon as the exhibition is over and my friend will also make a video of it. So stay tuned:)
(I'm a bit mad of those who put the dresses on because there is a drape in front of my dress that shouldn't be there. Arrgh.)

I'm so in love with my new vintage Burberry coat, I've been looking for a coat with herringbone pattern for a long time and last week I found this one in a second hand shop for a really funny price. And I also found some beautiful sequined things which will be perfect for holidays. I'm looking forward to share pictures with you!

I ate snow and I remembered how my mom always was always telling me not to and when she wasn't watching my mouth quickly became fullfied with that precious white thing.

I almost forgot how it feels when you are running on the fresh, untouched snow. pure joy.

It was so easy when I was little.

LA SERENISSIMA

I've been to Venice few weeks ago with my faculty, we went to see The Venice Biennale. It was just one-day trip and I wish I could stay longer there.

Venice is beautiful. And calm. And it seems a bit surreal.

It's very different than other cities in Italy or in the world. I don't think there exist a city with so much serenity but still alive. There is just one and only Venezia, with all that secret streets and bridges, with marvellous masks which makes me to have a masquarade party every night, with all delicious food, with all gondolas (once I'm going to hire one and have yummy pastries for breakfast while enjoying the view, like Holly at Breakfast at Tiffany's) and all the small shops with art materials that you can find nowhere. Ah, la dolce ~~vita~~ Venezia...

TALES OF THE ALHAMBRA

It was written in my guide: "Nothing can prepare you for the beauty of Alhambra." They did not exagerate.

I hate queues but this time it was worth waking up at 5am and wait for two and a half hours to buy a ticket to heaven.

If heaven exist, I'm sure it seems a bit like Alhambra. This is the most beautiful place I've ever been to. You just can't imagine that something so marvellous take place in the real world. It's a small paradise which makes you wish to stay there forever. Alhambra gives you the feeling that you are dreaming.

It was hard to quit Alhambra and whole Andalucía. I wanted to stay longer, I wanted to feel that paradise for senses again and again, I wanted to be surrounded by that imense beauty forever.

Now it's cold and gray and rainy outside and I often get depressed.

THE RULES OF ATTRACTION

A sneek peak of what I'm doing at the moment for my homework. We had to choose a theme and then draw some illustrations which later improve with the computer. My sketches will be inspired by the book THE RULES OF ATTRACTION by Bret Easton Ellis. It's about bohemian college students, mostly about three of them who find themselves in a love triangle. Dark, but funny novel.
I love illustrating, even more than designing. You can put more of "you" in the sketch and it's much more liberating. I wish we had more drawing&painting classes at my faculty.

It's complicated with my mind for quite some time now. When I start to think what am I going to do in 2 years, when I finish this school, I feel confused like I've never been before. It's so hard to take the right decision when you love two different things and you don't know which one you love more. but maybe the time to choose hasn't come yet. because i'm not ready.

What do you think about revival of long skirts? Lately I've been thinking about this trend, especially when I found this skirt in my mom's closet (it's from 90's). For the past few years I could swear I would never wear long skirt again, because I found it very unfashionable, conservative and just-for-old-ladies. But when I saw some great bloggers wearing it, I got inspired: long skirt can be very sexy and feminine if it's combined properly. So if you're going to wear it, don't forget high heels!

ANDALUSIAN TRIP PART ONE: SEVILLA

Finally I have time to post pictures of my 5-day trip to Spain, Andalucía where I went with my friend Barbara. We've been to 4 cities: Málaga, Sevilla, Córdoba and Granada. I can barely describe with words how awesome Andalucía is.

It's the most beautiful place I've ever seen.

It's the most magic place I've ever been to.

That vibe, that music, that food, that heat mixed with a lot of passion is a winning combination. I got a special feeling there in those cities, the feeling I am searching for all my life, a feeling of BEING ALIVE.

First we made a quick stop in Málaga, and we went to the beach to chill out a bit. While driving with a bus to Sevilla, I saw a magnificent sunset, which resembled to african sunsets somehow. There was enormous glowing ball on the horizon and beautiful orange-gold-blue sky around it. Wonderful.

We were supposed to arrive in a hostel in Sevilla at 10pm; well thanks to my brilliant sense of direction (and a very lame hostel's directions) we arrived there at 12pm. Yippee!

We visited the giant Cathedral of Sevilla (I saw some really breath-taking golden sacral sculptures) and Reales Alcazáres, where I stood open-mouthed. It was like a fairytale, all that patios and gardens and fountains... Imagine how sultans and princesses lived there, they had big parties with oriental dancers and they can left the party when they get bored and go play hide and seek, of course with a different reason than children. I would kill for a garden like that.

Looking for something to eat, we discovered a great tapas restaurant Doña Lina Tapas where the food is just yummy. Tapas are a great deal, they cost around 2.50€ so you can order more of them; we tried calamares fritos, tortilla española and paella mixta. Everything was so delicious, and the restaurant has andalusian atmosphere and is designed typically with Arabic patterned tiles.

Later we walk a bit around, eating helado and getting compliments guapas, guapas! You will ever hear someone in Slovenia giving a compliment to a stranger (unless he's drunk). But guess what? It actually feels good! I'm in love with Spanish temperament and how laid-back they are. Especially I love their biorhythm; they sleep longer and they get to bed really late (I'm not a morning person). When we went to breakfast the next day in Córdoba at 9am it was like in Slovenia at 7am! They just started opening bars and there were nearly no one in the street. But this is the story for the next post.

Few days yet and I'll be traveling to Spain, Andalucia. I actually cannot believe that I will be wearing my summer dresses and sandals again at 32°C. I am sooo excited to go in Andalucia, and see all the great architecture, flamenco shows, feel the vibe and passion of those ancient cities.
My gipsy soul is floating on happiness right now.

This weekend me and my friends went to a vintage market in the old town of Ljubljana but we didn't find anything (there were clothes from Zara and H&M from few years ago- come on, people, this is not vintage!). After that dissapointment we decided to hang around a little bit and take some pictures. It turned out that there was a festival with various concerts that night in the center and near Ljubljanica river. We stayed there all night long eating delicious grilled asian food, drinking strawberry margaritas and listening to great music. It's funny how all the best things come unexpected, isn't it?

I came back from Netherlands one week ago. I went to visit my relatives in Spaarndam with my brother. It is really beautiful country, I love the presence of the water- there is enormous number of canals!
I somehow see Amsterdam as a mixture of Venice, Paris and New York, but much more calm. I think I could live there when I'm old. I would have a little boat and every friday I would make picnics for friends on it and we'll sail slowly through canals... While saturday will be reseved for my lover and romantic candlelight dinner. Ahhh...

Last week I went to see fashion show of my university. I didn't participate at the show, my dress was chosen for exhibition at Maximarket, a department store in Ljubljana. There is a lot written about this show; many didn't like it, but I think they generalize too much. There were some pieces that were really good, like those pretty things:

Summer is finally here! I love Ljubljana this time, everything seems relaxed and easy-going. The last picture was taken in Makalonca, one of my favourites cafés in the city. Last week me and my friend Barbara from ALTER MUFFIN went on a trip to Portorož, a beautiful town by seaside. I just love this place; it's so perfect.
Sunbathing, doing nothing, being spontaneous, ice cream, new shoes, The Kooks:Seaside, girl talk, feet on sand, fresh fruit, boys, sunset...
I can't wait for summer to begin.

A WINNING COMBINATION

This is one of my favourite outfits for this spring. I wore it two weeks ago when I had a presentation of new project/new dress. It wasn't finished (because of being in NYC, a good excuse:) so I needed a little bit more confidence than usually. And I did a presentation quite well, of course this was a result of hig heels and red color:) Do you also have a wining combination for confidence boost?

These were taken at awesome japanese restaurant Azuki sushi (on Park Avenue). I miss japanese restaurants in Slovenia, I WANT AVOCADO SUSHI!!! :)
We went dancing to a club called Webster hall and it was really great, there was also a circus show! This club is one of the places you can go if you are not 21 (I am, but 2 of my friends aren't).
I bought a lot of stuff in NYC, expect to see them in following posts.:)

I passed 9 AWESOME days in NYC and I can say that I am completely in love with this city! I didn't expect that New York would touch my gipsy soul that much! I've been to some cities, but I've never feel that way for one. (Not even for Paris, where I was this summer. It was beautiful, but not to die for.) NY is to die for.

I enjoyed how everything and everyone is full of life, people are doing all stuff with passion, and they are way more friendly and nice than in Europe.
And there is always something that's going on, this city never sleeps. I love the feeling that something is happening every minute of my life, I love the feeling of being fullified, I love the feeling of being in NY.

I don't know many places where I feel that I fit in, but New York is definitely the one.

I'm not being OK for a while now. Frequently I feel like I'm just wasting time and not doing things I should and that I didn't achieve very much in my life.
There is a catalogue of Yale School of Drama on the shelf in my room and it reminds me everytime when I look at it why I must not give up.
My brother and I spent almost all time masquerading, playing different characters and imitating others when we were younger.
I was in high school when I had "first time" with a real stage and it was magic. I felt like : "This is it. This is where I belong. This is what I want to do all my life."
For the first time there was drama on stage, not in my head.

Wilde's Salome

(I am in love with Salome. Always wanted to be her. No character has that kind of power, that much passion and that many love.)

I was decided to study acting at Academy of Theatre, Film and Television. I was not accepted and I ended up studying French and Italian. It was an awful year, full of depression.
I went to one exam, I failed and went for two months to France. It was the best thing I've ever done.

I am afraid of losing my dreams.

And I didn't feel alive for such a long time.

WORKING GIRL

I'm doing the dress again and I'm spending a lot of time at university those days. (My mentor didn't like it.) Yeah, sometimes it's not easy studying fashion design.
But, nothing could compare with the special feeling you get when the dress is finished. Every effort seem worthwile.

Few weeks ago I participated in an exhibition of local artists. The theme was forest and nature so everyone used natural colors but me. It was sort of comical how my black-red-white painting stand out from the crowd.

Instead of painting landscape I decided to express my inner feelings.

I always need to go somewhere green and quiet when I feel like being shot down.

I have Francesick today. Actually, I have Nantessick.

I miss little Daphné who wants to be my sister. I miss that everyone cross the road anytime (drivers are sooo patient!). I miss eating crêpes and drinking kir with some awesome couchsurfers in Trentemoult. I miss losing around and getting expert in asking for a right way. I miss sitting on the steps of Musée des Beaux Arts and enjoying the sun. I miss eating far breton in the park.

Il me manque regarder le manège dans l'Ile de Nantes.

I miss sitting on the grass near University of Medicine and watching the sunset. I miss that everyone was so easy-going and friendly. I really miss those 5 days. It was perfect.

BOOKS ARE NOT DEAD

CAN you imagine a life without books?
No dramas, no love stories, no adventures, no beautiful pics of Magritte's masterpieces, no stories about personal legend, no trips in year 2500 B.C., no poems about beautiful women. NO DREAMS.

I spent my whole childhood and adolescence reading books. Sometimes I couldn't wait for school to finish that I could go home and continue reading. Everyone was thinking I was shy, calm, asocial, a bookworm who didn't like playing with babies.
Maybe I was shy, but I was bored and babies sucked (Barbies were much more fun!).
I enjoyed the fact I could be any person in the world while reading. A famous ballet dancer in Moscow, a femme fatale actress with many lovers in Rome, a bohemian painter in Paris, a high society party animal in NYC ... I was dreaming about where am I going to live, what am I going to become and which cities am I going to visit.

Now I am a young adult, I travel, I study what I like and I'm doing things my way. And I'm still dreaming. If I didn't, I'm sure now I would be working in a small office, bored, with two kids and an alcoholic husband, desperately thinking about what to cook for lunch.

So keep on dreaming, no one can stop you, and have courage to live your dream.

DRIVING

"To sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whiskey and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested..."

I like driving. I actually prefer being driven but this is not important now. For me, driving means being able to escape. I don't count how many times feeling anxious I picked up my high heels, lipstick and keys, shot the door, put some loud music and drove somewhere. Just for fun or, mostly, to run away.

This summer I've been in France and it was the best summer of my life. It wasn't planed, but I've already found out that spontaneous trips are simply the best. I ran away because I was sick and tired of my life in that time. Too many argues, too many lies, too many people who wanted to change me. I couldn't drive on that way anymore.

On my last day in Paris I went to Jardin des Tuileries, the sun was shining and everything was perfect and I had a big cry. I didn't want to go back. I was afraid everything is going to be the same.

What I didn't expect is that I changed so much. So now they call me an egoist.

I don't care. I'm starting to live MY LIFE.
